There really is no typical. It depends on the quality of work you are looking for. If the car is an old beater that you are just trying to make bearable you can get a paint job for a couple of hundred bucks if you go to Earl Schieb or a similar shop. In this case you are better off repainting the same color that the car is now or a similar color because it will cost you extra if you want the inside of the door jams painted. If this is a valuable classic car, or you just want a quality paint job be prepared to shell out a couple of grand minimum. i did all the prep work on my 78 camaro and maaco shot the color with a couple of sealer spots total out the door 365. my 79 they are doing all the prep work and its 850. and a friend had a 1940 merc custom done by a friend for 5 grand

simple answer if you have a MACO in your town they are the cheapest place to go normally not more than $700 for a complete paint job and they have a turn around time of aroun 2 days
