Is there anything that can be done to paint/coat over high-gloss bathroom tile that will hold up?

A friend recently bought an older house with a bathroom with robin's egg blue tile in the bathroom around the tub/shower, on the sink counter, and halfway up the walls. She can not remodel now, but was wondering if there was a treatment that would let her paint or coat it %26amp; hold up to everday use - any suggestions? Is there anything that can be done to paint/coat over high-gloss bathroom tile that will hold up?
As long as a tiled wall is sound, you can paint it with a special-purpose primer and a compatable gloss paint.Wash the surface thoroughley with warm water and detergent solution. Then apply the primer with a synthetic brush.Let it dry in a steam-free environment for a full 16 hrs.Than use a natural-bristle brush to apply the oil-base gloss paint. Is there anything that can be done to paint/coat over high-gloss bathroom tile that will hold up?
You have to use a primer first. Go to the paint store and ask the person working there what the best primer is for the job you wanna do. I know it's pretty expensive but you have to use it or the paint won't stick to the tile.
Yes.. she could prime it with a primer called KILZ and THEN paint over that after it has dried..

Heavens sake.. why notd just remove the tile if she does not like it.. it would be cheaper and Look MUCH nicer than paint on a tile
me and a co-worker were just talking about this. he had painted the tiles in his bath. went to a local home store and told the guy in painting he was covering tile. there is a certain product that primes the tile for painting. he said it was a little high but it did the job and lasted for 4 years (til he moved) and never peeled. so it is doable. m
