Ralph Lauren Suede Paint- 1st coat looks like crap, is this normal?

OMG, I followed the instructions of painting the 1st coat in a V format with the RL roller brush and it looks horriable, it was hard to do the edges. Some parts look lighter than other parts and you can see the roller edges.. Tonight I will be applying the second coat, which is suppose to be applied with a brush using X strokes, I hope after applying the second coat it will look better. Has anyone used Ralph Lauren Suede Paint???

Thank you!Ralph Lauren Suede Paint- 1st coat looks like crap, is this normal?
Don't pass judgement just yet. You have to paint the second coat. Here's hoping you followed the directions to the tee. If it is a darker color, the first coat always looks spotty and streaky. Keep the faith, if you've followed the directions, it should turn out great. The suede paint has a real soft look to it.

Good Luck!

You need to make sure that you apply consistent pressure to the roller as you paint as well as keeping your roller loaded with paint. My mom used this paint in her house once and it looked great but I wasn't there to witness the process. First coats usually do look like ';crap'; so hang in there. When you do your second coat, this is your opportunity to fix any errors or ';weak'; spots you have. Personally, however, having some variations with this sort of paint makes it look more interesting. The purpose of this paint to emulate a texture, so keep that in mind as you paint. It's not supposed to be one flat color. It's not too late to make any changes or fix any mistakes at this stage if you aren't getting the results you wanted.

Good luck and I'm sure it will turn out looking great!

Just in case you want even more reassurance, I looked it up and found this forum. They were talking about the exact same thing.
It's possible to get good results with this product, but it isn't easy. I'd find a decorating/paint effects forum for more specific advice than you are likely to find here.
