Do I need to paint a second coat of primer or will one coat do?

I'm trying to paint the ceiling of my kitchen, it is currently ';school bus yellow'; and the new color is a white-greenish-yellow, after applying the kilz, it looks very patchy and i am afraid, when we paint the first coat of color, it will still show through...So would it make more sense to paint a second coat of primer before applying color or will two coats of paint be enough to cover effectively even though its patchy right nowDo I need to paint a second coat of primer or will one coat do?
You didn't need to put a primer on it. Don't worry about it being patchy. It will cover. However, if you have enough primer left over you it will not harm to use it on another coat.

The new colour ought to have two coats either way.

A lot of people falsely believe they must prime paint. Primer is for new or bare surfaces with a couple of specialist primers for problem surfaces. Do I need to paint a second coat of primer or will one coat do?
One coat of primer and two coats of paint is industry standard, killz is a very good stain blocking primer two coats of paint will cover it.
USE A PRIMER BY SHERMAN WILLIAMS BLOCKING SEALING

PRIMER SHADE IT TO A P-4 THEN OAINT THE CEILING TWO COATS
Put on another coat of primer and then paint it! The primer needs to cover everything .
