How to blend perfectly clear coat paint on a touch up repair?

It's called blending and buffing. As you paint it, first get good coverage on the repaired area. You should have already prepped an area much larger than the repair area with prep solvent followed by 600 grit wet sandingf..

Then thin the paint very thin and blend over surrounding areas and panels.

Follow up with the clear coat. For the final coat of clear, once again reduce the clear coat quite a bit with thinner. I will often add thinner to the gun, shoot it until it runs dry, then fill it with thinner again. The last time I'm shooting almost straight thinner on the car.

When it dries a light buffing will get rid of any ';dry'; areas and make them shine.

Some cautions: if you get the paint too ';wet'; it can blister, cloud, and run.

Some colors don't blend well. You have to do an entire panel, or even an entire side. On thoise cars you have to try a test panel: one with 1 coat, one with 2 coats, etc. then see which one matches the best.
