Do you have to put a white coat of paint over texture?

we just textures our walls and the texture dried white. do we have to put a white base coat of paint over the texture or can we just paint colorDo you have to put a white coat of paint over texture?
If you put a coat of primer over it, you will have a better look when you paint, and not have to put as many coats of paint on it. The texture will absorb the paint, but if you prime first, the paint will hold better to the new surface.Do you have to put a white coat of paint over texture?
Yes you need to use a good primer. There are several brands of latex primers available and I would have the primer tinted to match your top coat. It will cover much easier. I would use a primer followed by two coats of your top coat. I would also recommend using a flat finish.
depends on the texture but it is usually very absorbent so best to use base coat first to avoid using too much color as this is more expensive
Yes, you need to primer but you can get the primer tinted to match your wall or ceiling color. That way one coat of a good quality paint should cover the primed walls.
Did you do a full texture? Or can you see the drywall surface in between the texture?

The texture will tend to absorb your paint... and the drywall/texture combination will accept paint differently, causing it to dry different colors.

I'd apply a coat of primer, if it were my work.

ya its best to use a primer, if you used spackle compound to texture with- its very dry and will absorb paint differently- if you dont prime it you might get a spotty look to the paint as the texture absorbs it. if you used a spray on texture- the courseness is often made of recycled products that have a brown to green tone to them that start coming through in a few months - those colors start bleeding through in a few months and ruin the color of your paint- so spend the few extra bucks and hours to prime it - you might regret not doing it.
