How do u paint a clear coat on roof of car as the current clear coat is starting to bubble?

it's a 2001 corolla, darkish blue, metallic paint. How do u paint a clear coat on roof of car as the current clear coat is starting to bubble?
Bubbling paint indicates there is moisture under the paint, I would imagine. As it is a clear coat, there is no chance that you could simply rub out the bubbles (with wet and dry paper) and paint over the roof. as there would be a most uneven, cratered finish.

Sadly, I feel that the only way to repair this roof is to strip ALL the paint from it, and try to match the dark blue metallic paint of the vehicle then finish it with a carefully applied clear coat.

To make the repair less obvious, it would be best to rub down the complete car with 1000 grade rubbing paper, make sure the surface is oil and wax free, and apply the clear coat to the complete vehicle.

This job, done by the DIY owner, would be both difficult and time consuming. It would be best to read an expertly written article on car finishing, and follow the advice scrupulously.

Clear coats, used on nearly all vehicles today, certainly give a new car a superior appearance, but repairing them is really difficult. Of all car colours, dark blue is the most susceptible to colour fading, and matching the 7-year- old dark blue metallic paint might prove very difficult.

Sorry to be so gloomy! How do u paint a clear coat on roof of car as the current clear coat is starting to bubble?
Generally, most clearcoat systems on earlier cars are attacked from underneath the clearcoat, by the metallic basecoat. The sun can reflect off the metallic basecoat under the clearcoat and begin to lift it from the basecoat. I'm not sure of the chemical reaction that takes place but I do know this is very common. The evidence of this is that you will only see ';upper'; surfaces such as bonnets, roofs and decklids affected, where side panels are all ok. Unfortunately, the only proper fix is to strip back the clear and basecoat from the metal and have it resprayed. This can be done and possibly colormatched to your existing paint depending on the skill of your painter. Good luck.
When it is starting to bubble, it is not sticking. You cannot just put paint on top of paint if the base is not firmly affixed. You may have to sand down the roof and reclean and reapply a color coat, and wait till that dries before putting on a CC.

There is no trick to painting. KEEP IT CLEAN before painting(that applies to clear coat too - for CC is but clear paint) But, if you have to go that far, have someone with more paint expertise than you have - take a look - I can't see it....and this is a look thing.
I would just take it to someone. If it is bubbling already there was trash in the clear coat to start with. The only way you can avoid this from happening again is to have it painted in a sterile environment. Call a cheap place like Midas or something like that. I can't imagine that it would be that much.
Sand it down to the metal and apply a new base coat then a clear coat. Or take it to the body shop and let them match it up for you(recommended).
u have to rub the old clear back, make sure u get all of it off before u respray
