Ok to sand a wall after first coat of paint?

I had some patch work done to my bedroom walls and being a first time DIY painter, I was unaware of sanding the patch work BEFORE painting. I put one coat of paint on the wall (after priming the walls of course) and then noticed that the areas where the patch work was done shows through. Is it ok to go ahead and sand those areas down and then do the second coat?! What would my options be. Thanks in advance.Ok to sand a wall after first coat of paint?
Yes, you should have had them sanded before you painted. But, it is ok to go ahead now and sand them down. Sand the patched area until it is smooth with the wall. Use a tack cloth to clean the area as paint does not stick to dust. If you don't have tack cloth then use a slightly damp rag and make sure that the area is very clean. Before you paint over this area you are going to need to add texture back on the wall if your wall is textured. Otherwise that patched area will show through. They sell texture in aerosol cans and it is fairly inexpensive. Most houses have an orange peel on them. You'll have to figure out what texture yours has. Don't over texture on or to short swipes should it. Let it dry then touch up that area with paint. Let the touch up dry and then apply your second coat of paint to wall. You'll never know the patches were there. This all sounds like alot of work but it's not. The texture dries almost instantly. The sanding should take no more than 5 minutes if that. So, you've got about 10 minutes of work to there . Good Luck! :)Ok to sand a wall after first coat of paint?
yes you can sand it after will be a bit tougher to do be sure to reprime the area your sanding they make a sandable primer that i use quite often when doing drywall repairs make finding the bad spots easy to spot when lighting isnt that great.
you can try to scrape the paint off...but it probably wont work...best thing to dois just mud over your patch job to feather and smooth it out...and make sure you use a good primer so you dont use as much paint...

you people dont know what you are talking about...you cant sand latex paint...
I think just a small patch area a light sanding wouldn't do damage. You would just need to repaint that area.
your going to have to, its the only way your going to blend it in. ask your paint store which grit sandpaper you should use.
sand,remove dust from wall,prime sanded area,paint
